Song Writing
Analysis or simple tunes and songs that formed early Folk material in Europe and the UK. The plan and form of written music in simple songs. Writing simple words, phrases and an analysis of phrases used in folk and popular songs. Planning and selecting words.
Writing music phrase in appropriate keys with lyrics. Exercises in melody and rhythm construction relate to word sequences.
Recording
An introduction to Sound Studio Techniques that relate to Radio including choir, orchestral and solo artist recording. Exercises in selecting appropriate microphones for specific projects. Operating Mixers and Digital recorders. Editing digital sound Tracks.
Applications to Sound radio that encourage the development of the spoken word, editing texts for programme productions. The design of specific programme styles related to music selection presentation and DJ work in all genres of music using modern systems of reproduction.
Experiments with the Science of Music
Constructing monochords originally produced by Pythagoras in Ancient Greece. Calculating proportionality in musical notation. Their relationship with ancient theories of the construction and operation of the Universe and living forms in nature. Experimenting with Cymatics and electronic frequencies in producing sound and visual patterns related to the Fibonacci sequence of proportion. Tuning experiments with harmonics and beat frequencies.
